Description

Job Title: Accountant

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
He/She will provide valuable financial insights to support the company’s growth and success.

Responsibilities:

General Ledger and Journal Entries: 

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and supported.

Accounts Payable (AP): 

  • Process vendor invoices and payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate AP records and ensure timely payments.

Accounts Receivable (AR): 

  • Prepare and send out invoices to clients and tenants (if applicable).
  • Track and collect outstanding payments.
  • Reconcile AR balances and follow up on overdue accounts.

Bank Reconciliations: 

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.

Project Costing: 

  • Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs.
  • Allocate expenses to specific development projects.
  • Provide cost reports and variance analysis as needed.

Financial Reporting: 

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial reports.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of financial reporting processes.

Tax Compliance: 

  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns (e.g., VAT, WHT).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.

Budgeting and Forecasting: 

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and analyze variances.

Internal Controls: 

  • Adhere to established internal controls and procedures.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to internal control processes.

Audit Support: 

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

Other Duties: 

  • Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA).
  • 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the real estate or construction/development industry.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or IFRS.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Experience with project accounting and cost management.
  • Familiarity with real estate development processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
