Job Title: Application Administrator
- Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve.
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications.
- Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
- Automation or elimination of anything repetitive that’s also cost-effective to automate or eliminate.
- Responsible for change management by partnering with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Responsible for incident management which involves communication with stakeholders and provision of incident reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other highly technical, scientific discipline with at least 2 years’ experience as an SRE / DevOps Engineer/Application Administrator.
- Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript.
- Experience with distributed storage technologies like NFS, HDFS, Ceph, S3 as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn).
- Experience with cloud computing technologies such as AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Experience with basic database management, Linux and Windows Server OS.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK, New Relic.
- Experience with 24/7 shift-based structures.
A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks. - Behavioral competencies required: Attentiveness, Conscientiousness, Dependability, Proactiveness and an analytical/problem solving mindset.
- Certifications under any of the cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
