Backend Engineer, Maps API

DUTIES:

Balance rapid development of new mapping tools against the reliability of services as they scale into new
request volumes, markets and/or use cases. Develop and design microservices through HTTP API's for maps to
serve millions of users interact with everyday like Snapchat, Strava and Weather.com. Identify and plan out well-
defined customer-facing mapping features and solutions to complex technology problems and microservices.
Working on tooling, design vision and data curation to serve the customers with mapping data instantly. Promoting a
culture of operational excellence by building a testing infrastructure to serve 99.99% of customer requests.
Monitoring globally deployed systems and code, writing documentation, and being on-call to support the health of
our services. Reduce technical debt, while knowledge-sharing, and invest in teammates' health and happiness, while
optimizing application performance and accelerating feature velocity. Uphold a culture of collaboration,
transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decisions. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
closely related technical field and 3 years of experience developing solutions to complex technology problems. In
the alternative, Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
closely related technical field followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience developing solutions to
complex technology problems.

Must also have 3 years of experience with:

• Software development;
• Cloud Infrastructure; and,
• Web API Development.
