NOTE: Here is why some companies may not hire you.
Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit faith-based community of women dedicated to civic empowerment and engagement. Our resources prepare our members with information, training, and opportunities to become more civically engaged and to participate meaningfully in shaping the world around them.
About the Role
We are looking for a creative, energetic Communications Content Intern to join our team as we gear up for a busy and exciting election season. This is an entry-level role perfect for someone who lives and breathes social media and is excited about making civic engagement feel accessible and “thumb-stoppable.”
Reporting to the assistant director of communications, you will be a key part of our brainstorming sessions, helping us translate complex nonpartisan issues into engaging, casual video content. We want someone who isn’t afraid to jump in front of the camera, experiment with new trends, and help MWEG branch out into more personality-driven content on platforms like Instagram and YouTube Shorts.
What You’ll Do
- Brainstorm creative concepts for short-form video content related to voting and civic engagement.
- Script, film, and edit videos for YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
- Stay on top of social media trends and identify opportunities for MWEG to join relevant digital conversations.
- Occasionally serve as the “face” of our short-form content, presenting information in a friendly and relatable way.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Basic content creation: You have experience (even if it’s personal!) capturing and editing video and photos for digital platforms. Familiarity with Canva and other video editing software is a plus.
- Trend awareness:Â You have a pulse on social media trends and, more importantly, you understand the “why” behind them and how to recreate them for a specific audience.
- Strong communicator:Â You are comfortable being on camera and can convey information with a fun and approachable vibe.
- Independent worker:Â You are a self-starter who is comfortable taking a concept and running with it, meeting deadlines.
- Creative thinker:Â You love the idea phase and are comfortable sharing and refining concepts in a team setting.
- Committed values:Â You can maintain a clear nonpartisan and peacemaking voice while creating content that encourages others to participate in the democratic process.

Regular video meetings will take place via Google Meet or Zoom, with an option to call in by phone if needed.
