The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the implementation of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in school-age children (IPTsc) in areas where malaria prevalence is >10%. The IPTsc is an intervention geared towards protecting school-age children from malaria in moderate to high malaria transmission areas. Evidence Action supports the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) in implementing research on the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of IPTsc in two states in Nigeria. The pilot program will assess the protective effect and cost-effectiveness of IPTsc models based on the malaria ecosystem.
