About Us
Chess.com is one of the largest gaming sites in the world and the #1 platform for playing, learning, and enjoying chess.
We are a team of 400+ fully remote people in 45+ countries working hard to serve the global chess community. We are also growing fast, with more than 90 million players and a large base of happy premium members.
We are a tech company. A gaming company. A content company. And we do it all with passion and commitment to the game. Above all we prize our mission-driven, flat, life-celebrating, no-corporate culture, and we look forward to meeting you and learning more about what you can bring to the team.
About You
You love two things: chess and stats. You know the players and the personalities, and you watch all of the shows. You enjoy looking at Insights, W/D/L records, rating graphs, and more. More data = more fun. You have tinkered around with chess data before and know what is interesting and what is not. You work with data right now in your job, and the idea of doing that same thing – but for the game you love – is a dream come true.
You will work across the entire Chess.com content landscape to investigate, surface, and present data for articles, news, social media, shows, and more.
What you’ll do
- Work with our content teams to identify upcoming written, video, and social media to analyze how data might be worked into the content to make it more engaging
- Investigate data across the Chess.com platform to see what might turn into new stories (like https://www.chess.com/article/view/interesting-chess-data-time-controls-and-game-results )
- Prepare data for ingesting into code, graphics, or production
- Present data in a way that makes it exciting for fans
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years experience working in the data, data visualization, or statistics
- Deep knowledge of the chess community including players and events
- Familiarity with Chess.com tools and Chessbase
- Incredibly organized in workflows and processes to manage partnerships
- Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team
- Sense of ownership and responsibility
