Job Title: Engineering Project Manager
Job Overview:
An ExploreLearning Project Manager will drive initiatives that innovate product features and sustain product growth for our award-winning educational products. In this role, you’ll be a key member of the product team, ensuring that our work is aligned with the needs of our customers and peer departments (sales, marketing, support, and professional development), coordinating across teams to provide actionable plans and predictable delivery. To succeed in this position, you should be an excellent communicator, excel at critical thinking, and have experience leading custom software projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide a single point of contact for product changes, and manage sustained product growth
- Implement efficient processes across Software Development Life Cycle phases.
- Coordinate and curate intake of product change requests.
- Document objectives and requirements, organizing a prioritized backlog of feasible improvements.
- Clarify business use cases, importance, and impact on customer experience.
- Coordinate and communicate work commitments and change management across the company.
- Consult on customers’ technical questionnaires covering security, privacy, and product behavior.
- Evaluate escalated customer questions about products and technical integrations.
- Drive strategic product/functional innovations, bridging curriculum/SMEs and technical teams.
- Provide domain expertise and broker product decisions.
- Clarify development priorities and direct the vision of success for the project.
- Articulate, negotiate, and communicate backlogs based on stakeholder feedback.
- Plan how to get the work done and break down initiatives into time-based tasks/phases.
- Coordinate who needs to be involved across departments, at the appropriate time, and organize feedback.
- Manage vendor engagements and project governance.
- Identify and coordinate response to program/delivery risks.
- Govern and report progress toward testing/program milestones.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in technology, engineering, business, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience as a project manager, managing software development projects.
- Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects.
- Experienced in delivering software through all lifecycle phases and overseeing multi-function project teams, including the technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams.
- Experienced creating actionable project schedules and resource plans using project management software. Negotiated project delays, risks, and changes in project scope.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Motivate and steer across organizational boundaries/titles, applying persuasion, negotiation, and compromise to resolve conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to write concise technical requirements and documentation. Distill concise, complete, and actionable communications to resolve complex and technical decisions.
- Ability to adapt to changes in business targets and priorities, as part of a fast-growing company. Be a life-long learner who is results and action-oriented.
