Field Service Engineer at Daystar Power Group, Lagos

We are looking to engage a competent and experienced  Field Service Engineer to maintain and operate our site in Lagos, Nigeria. He or she will troubleshoot and repair PV inverters, commission new equipment, and increase customer satisfaction through quality service and professional behaviour.

We are seeking a hardworking, motivated, and well-organized individual with a focus on continuous improvement to exceed expectations.

The candidate must be able to operate, service, and maintain renewable energy hybrid systems installed for clients in the commercial, industrial, and telecoms sectors across Nigeria to achieve a minimum uptime of 99.5%.

Key responsibilities:

• Implement operational and maintenance procedures for company assets deployed at client sites, ensuring consistent performance and compliance with technical standards.

Collaborate with team members to ensure:

• Achievement of minimum system uptime of 99.5%
• Site operating costs—including diesel usage, consumables, and grid power—remain within approved budgets.
• Clients adhere to agreed operational procedures and designated operating hours.
• Timely and accurate billing and collections in coordination with the Finance team.
• Adoption of best‑practice maintenance standards for all assets, including diesel and gas generators, batteries, inverters, and solar panels, to maximize equipment life cycle.
• Remain available and willing to travel to various sites across Nigeria based on operational requirements
• Ensure strict compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) protocols during all on‑site activities.
• Conduct installation, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and corrective maintenance activities as assigned.
• Keep accurate service records, site reports, and maintenance logs for internal and client use.
• Support customer relations through professional communication and timely resolution of technical issues.
• Coordinate with internal units (Projects, NOC, SCM, QHSE, etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery

Working condition:

• Approximately 5% of time shall be spent in office environments with the remaining time in the field.

Physical requirements

• The Engineer shall be capable of lifting up to 20kg; stand for an extended period of time; work in outdoor environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; preferably Electrical or Mechanical.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 year’s work experience in equipment maintenance, power systems, or renewable energy operations.
• Must have good knowledge of diesel generators and rectifier system
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer‑facing skills.

Language Proficiency: English.

Character:

• Self-motivated and demonstrate a sense of ownership with high level of commitment and the ability to thrive under pressure.
• Passionate about quality of workmanship.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize competing demands, passion for renewable energy
• Willingness to travel within assigned regions.
• HSE certification is an added advantage.
• Flexible to travel domestically and internationally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; advanced Excel or PowerPoint is an advantage.
