Job Purpose

As the Growth Manager for Fresh Foods at Sabi you would be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive growth for a specific fresh food product or category. The Growth Manager for Fresh Foods will be responsible for exploiting existing relationships and portfolios of key players in the agricultural space such as aggregators and farmers that will improve the sector. This will be done by identifying new areas or product sub- categories in which profitability can be maximized such as livestock, plant based products and prioritizing these growth initiatives to ensure that it yields profitability for the business and enhances revenue from a global point of view.

Job Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing growth strategies for the fresh food category.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, and product development, to execute growth plans.
  • Overseeing product development and innovation to improve offerings and meet customer needs.
  • Developing and executing marketing plans and promotions to drive sales.
  • Managing the budget for the fresh food category and ensuring that financial goals are met.
  • Conducting financial analysis to measure the effectiveness of growth strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing for products.
  • Staying up to date with industry developments and market trends to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • The specific responsibilities of a growth manager for fresh foods may also include managing teams and relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain professional networks and keep abreast of developments in farm science and the fresh foods value chain.
  • Handling the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm like fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, and grain.
  • Collaborating with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.
  • Your focus would be on the supply and demand of agricultural produce and input, managing end-to-end relationships with business partners. The scope of the business would provide all necessary levers to drive the category towards the right direction.
  • The Growth Manager must have a proper understanding of operations in the category, especially the flow of commerce; all processes leading to the creation of value for our customers.
  • Show a strong understanding of the entire ecosystem as well as a tremendous network as you will take the lead in discussions for business development and key accounts.
  • You will be held accountable for the most important KPIs: the growth and profitability of the category.


Special Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business, marketing, or food science.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the food industry, with a focus on fresh foods.
  • Strategic thinking: the ability to develop and implement growth strategies that drive business results.
  • Market knowledge: a deep understanding of the fresh food industry, market trends, and customer needs.
  • The Growth Manager should possess an extensive network of farmers and aggregators.
  • Product development and innovation: experience developing and launching new products and improving existing offerings.
  • Financial acumen: experience managing budgets, P&L statements, and understanding of financial metrics.
  • Analytical skills: the ability to analyze market data, consumer insights, and category performance to make informed business decisions
  • Communication and negotiation skills: the ability to communicate effectively and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
