Job Title: Help Desk Specialist
We are seeking a Mid-Level Database Administrator (DBA) to provide database administration, support, and sustainment services for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Propulsion Integration Division (AFLCMC/LPZ), in support of the Core Engine Maintenance System (CEMS) Program Management Office (PMO). The DBA will support the CEMS application and platform database needs to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability of mission-critical systems.
The ability to obtain a security clearance is REQUIRED.
A Security+ Certification is REQUIRED.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day database administration and support for CEMS applications and platforms.
- Analyze hardware and software configuration changes and their impact on CEMS databases.
- Support CEMS software releases and deployments, including database updates and migrations.
- Perform data analysis, database design, data modeling, and database optimization to support business and mission needs.
- Conduct system performance analysis and tuning to ensure efficient database operation.
- Assist with the development and execution of disaster recovery procedures for CEMS databases.
- Participate in configuration management processes related to database systems.
- Collaborate with developers, testers, and system administrators to implement database solutions that support CEMS requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with Air Force policies and standards.
- Support CEMS IT software maintenance and sustainment activities as directed by AFLCMC/LPZC.
- Ensure system functionality, availability, reliability, manageability, maintainability, auditability, and responsiveness at a level exceeding 99% system availability for the AF propulsion community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) supporting enterprise-level systems.
- Strong experience with database design, modeling, and optimization techniques.
- Experience performing database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting software releases and configuration changes within database environments.
- Knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Air Force Core Engine Maintenance System (CEMS) or other DoD systems.
- Experience working in a structured SDLC environment.
- Familiarity with AFLCMC/LPZ or other Air Force software sustainment processes.
- Experience supporting databases in cloud, virtual, or hybrid environments.
- Experience with security compliance and auditability requirements in DoD environments.
