Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
The Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses to support clinical diagnoses and research initiatives. This role demands a meticulous and knowledgeable professional who can uphold laboratory standards, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to the overall efficiency of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
- Execute a variety of laboratory tests on biological samples to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
- Analyse and interpret test results, providing accurate data to healthcare professionals.
- Develop and refine laboratory protocols to enhance testing efficiency.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with local and international laboratory standards and regulations.
- Â Document all laboratory procedures, results, and quality control measures accurately.
- Participate in regular audits and quality assurance programs to ensure laboratory integrity.
Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of laboratory instruments.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to discuss findings and contribute to patient care decisions.
- Train and mentor junior staff in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
Research and Development:
- Engage in research projects aimed at improving laboratory practices or developing new testing methodologies.
- Stay informed about advancements in laboratory science and technology.
Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing laboratory findings for medical staff review.
- Present data clearly during team meetings or case discussions.
Educational Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field; certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician is required.
Experience:Â
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software applications.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and ethical standards related to laboratory practices.
Pay: ₦90,000.00 per month
