Job Title: People Operations Executive

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the human resources and operations function, ensuring that the company has the talent and resources necessary to achieve its strategic objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Human Resource Management
  • Strategy development: Develop and implement HR strategies and policies that align with the company’s overall business objectives and support its growth and success.
  • Talent acquisition: Manage the recruitment and selection process, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
  • Onboarding: Oversee employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organisation.
  • Employee development: Develop and implement employee training and development programs to enhance skills, capabilities, and career progression.
  • Performance management: Manage employee performance evaluation and appraisal processes to assess performance, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
Employee Relations
  • Grievance handling: Address employee grievances and complaints in a timely and fair manner.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into allegations of misconduct or violations of company policies.
  • Disciplinary actions: Manage disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspensions, and terminations, following applicable laws and regulations.
HR Operations
  • HR information system: Manage the company’s HR information system and maintain accurate employee records.
  • HR data analysis: Analyse by HR data to identify trends, assess performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Departmental support: Coordinate with other departments to support their HR needs, such as recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws and regulations.
Administration
  • Office management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including administrative tasks, record-keeping, and facilities management.
  • Facilities management: Manage the company’s facilities, including office space, equipment, and maintenance.
  • Health and safety: Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Travel and expense management: Manage travel and expense arrangements for employees, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Procurement: Oversee the procurement of goods and services for the HR department and other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field may be advantageous.
  • Certifications in HR-related areas issued by HRCI, SHRM, CIPM, CIPD, etc., are mandatory.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in human resources or operations management, with a strong preference for experience in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective HR strategies and policies.
  • Experience in managing all aspects of the HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, such as a microfinance institution.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations in Nigeria.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in HR management software and tools, such as HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and performance management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address HR challenges and opportunities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Leadership and management skills to lead and motivate a team of HR professionals.
  • Ethical and professional conduct in accordance with HR best practices and ethical standards.

  • Compensation management: Develop and administer competitive compensation packages, including salaries, bonuses, and incentives.
  • Benefits administration: Manage the company’s benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant labour laws and regulations regarding compensation and benefits.
