Procurement Officer at FWC, Lagos, Nigeria
This role involves coordinating with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality materials, maintaining accurate procurement records, and assisting in cost management.
Results Areas:
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers to ensure quality materials and services at competitive prices.
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets by negotiating favorable terms and minimizing unnecessary expenses.
- Ensure on-time delivery of materials and equipment by effectively coordinating with suppliers and monitoring the supply chain.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for construction materials and equipment.
- Solicit and review quotations, negotiate prices, and finalize purchase agreements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure consistent quality, reliable delivery, and an up-to-date vendor list.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any delivery or quality issues.
- Evaluate supplier proposals (quotes) and negotiate favorable terms, including price, delivery schedules, and warranties. An evaluation report (tender report) will be required for each recommendation.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and carry out bi-monthly market research surveys as required.
- Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize delivery schedules and transportation.
- Work with site teams to monitor inventory levels and plan procurement to avoid material shortages or overstocking.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of procurement software or tools is desirable.
- Understanding the specifications, quality, and types of materials used in construction projects.
- Ability to develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with project timelines and budgets.
- Ability to focus on accuracy and thoroughness when reviewing purchase orders, contracts, and invoices.
- Demonstrates honesty and transparency in dealings with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders, adhering to ethical business practices.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 – 4 years of working experience as a Procurement Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or procurement management, or other related supply chain courses.
- Professional certification in the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or Supply Chain
- Professional (CSCP) is an added advantage.
