Quality Assurance Assistant
JOB CONTEXT
The Quality Assurance Assistant is to ensure that all company’s products and procedures meet internal quality standards and external regulations. This role will work with other staff to ensure that products and procedures adhere to established quality standards, maintain legal compliance and satisfy customers. This position works in-office but would often involve moving around facility site including production floor. The assistant typically reports to the QA officer and would be a part of the food production team.
JOB DUTIES
You will be required to
- Document quality assurance practices by entering data into logs and forms or in computer databases to generate reports.
- Carry out raw materials, in-process materials, and finished product checks to ensure that meals produced meet the company’s quality and safety standards.
- Communicate with management and other team members on non-conformities in raw materials and finished products and provide corrective actions during production.
- Monitor process to sight non-conformity and provide mitigation plans during production.
- Maintain and update company procedures and policies.
- Ensure staff compliance to safety and quality procedures.
- Ensure that good manufacturing practices(GMP) are maintained in the facility.
- Collaborate with relevant team members on establishing initiatives.
- Collaborate with the QA officer on the development and implementation of Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000 :2018).
- Work with CAPA system process.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS
The role holder would have the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of QA procedures and plans
- Must have a good understanding of the implementation of Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000:2018)
- Must have a good knowledge of documentation and reporting
- Data analysis tools like docs and spreadsheets
Skills
- Critical thinking and effective problem- solving skills
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time
- Technical writing skills
- Good communication skills

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
The QA Assistant is expected to own the production process line, resulting in the provision of food that constantly meets consumer’s satisfaction and regulatory requirements
Note that this role will require you to work 5.5 days weekly, Sundays being compulsory (either day or night shift as would be rotated)
