Senior Software Engineer (Backend)
Duties
- Designing, planning, and development of solutions based on industry requirements
- Participating as part of a project team to design, code, test, and implement moderately complex programs to support the portfolio management process
- Establishing testing procedures to ensure an application is thoroughly tested throughout development and before release
- Ability to work with and integrate into different teams.
- Identifying issues that may impede the attainment of goals, recommend and implement corrective measures
- Maintaining existing systems
- Keeping application/Web security up to date
- Working with PM to flesh out business requirements and designs for those requirements and systems
- Contributing to design technology standards
- Contributions to design techniques and coding standards
Core Skills and Competences
- Ability to write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
- Sound knowledge of Python/Django, HTTP, RESTful APIs.
- Sound knowledge of SQL
- Experience with database technologies, especially PostgreSQL/ NoSQL databases or other data-store solutions (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB).
- Familiar with source code management systems like git and bitbucket.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Strong unit test and debugging skills
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
- Sound knowledge of cloud (AWS, Azure, etc)
- Experience working with docker
Years of Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
Other Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc /M.Sc in Computer Science/ Engineering /related field or equivalent experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and demonstrated professionalism
