Hey!! Update Your CV Like a Pro. HERE are Tips from an Experienced Recruiter
Social Media & Community Manager at EverTry, Remote (Nigeria)
We need someone to run EverTry’s presence on social media, mostly X and LinkedIn, and be good enough at it that people notice.
Not “post three times a day” good. Genuinely good.
The kind of good where you open a platform and immediately understand what’s happening, what’s funny, what matters, and what we should say about it, if anything.
That’s the real skill here. Knowing when to say something. And knowing when to say nothing at all.
What we’re actually looking for
- We’re not going to give you a list of twenty bullet-pointed competencies. Here’s the honest version:
- You spend real time online, and you’re sharp about it. You write well, clearly, simply, without trying too hard.
- You’re funny, in the specific way that lands rather than embarrasses.
- You have opinions, but you don’t need to fight about every one of them. You’re curious about a lot of things.
- You can explain something complicated in one plain sentence. You notice things other people scroll past.
- If that sounds like you, the rest of the qualifications probably don’t matter much.
You should follow the world, because the job requires it
Football. Specifically the Premier League, plus the Champions League and Europa League. You don’t need to be an expert, but if a football story is taking over the internet, you should already know why.
Business and startups. Founders, companies, launches, the regular churn of what’s happening.
Finance. Payments, banking, currencies, fintech, crypto, stablecoins. Not as an analyst. Just enough to follow the conversation and understand why it matters. This part’s a little easier; here you’ll be working somewhere that lives and breathes it.
Everything else. News, culture, whatever people are actually talking about that week. We’re not hiring a reporter. We’re hiring someone who already knows what happened yesterday, instead of waiting for someone to tell them.
What you’ll actually do
Watch what’s happening online. Find real conversations EverTry can be part of. Write posts. Write replies; sometimes six words is the whole job.
Talk to customers and people who might become customers, people who are shopping, learning, building businesses, and running ads across borders every day, and telling us about it.
Build a few recurring things that work well over time. Try different approaches and see what actually works, not just what gets likes. Pay attention to what turns attention into someone signing up; that’s the number that matters, not the vanity ones.
You’ll work with our marketing team. But you won’t need someone handing you a brief every morning. If you do, this isn’t the right job.
A word on judgment
Social media has a weird incentive built into it: the easiest way to get attention is often not the way that actually helps the company. We want someone who understands that difference instinctively.
Be funny. Have opinions. Take some risks. But know where the line is. You’re representing a company people trust with their money. A joke that’s clever but costs us that trust isn’t actually a good joke.
About experience
We’re not counting years. You might be a marketer, a writer, a journalist, a student, a founder, someone who’s spent years getting really good at running a personal account, or something else entirely. We don’t care much about the path; we care whether you can do the work.
We can teach you EverTry. We can teach you the product. We can teach you payments.
We can’t teach someone how to be interesting.
How to apply
Include your social handles in your cover letter. Your X handle especially. If you have other public writing or accounts that show us who you are, send those too.
This isn’t a box-checking requirement. If the job is being good on the internet, the easiest way to show us is to show us.
Why join now
We’re a small, bootstrapped team building something people actually depend on: virtual dollar cards, real funding flexibility, real access, for people the traditional system keeps shutting out. You’d be one of the first voices representing that to the world, which means you’d get to shape what EverTry sounds like, not just execute someone else’s plan for it.
If you’re done waiting for a “fast-paced dynamic environment” to feel real, this might be one.
