Software Engineer – Privacy Platform
Company Description
Company Name: Booking
Job Description
One of Booking’s core values is “do the right thing”; which means doing the right thing for our Customers, Partners and employees, as well as following local laws and regulations wherever we operate. Privacy is key to that – required by law, and expected by our core constituencies: users, partners and employees.
What
We have established the Privacy Engineering Group, within Horizontal Business Services. The Privacy Engineering Group is responsible for:
- Building horizontal customer Privacy infrastructure to strengthen Booking.com customer trust in the brand.
- Collaborating with R&C, Legal, and many other R&D teams within Booking.com to provide the right infrastructure, and best practices for following the ‘Privacy by Design’ principles consistently across Booking.com Engineering and Product teams.
- Implementing controls to ensure basic privacy measures are enforced across our products and services
- Providing expertise and knowledge to support the business and engineering teams with decision making, and supporting the Legal and Privacy office with legal requests.
B.responsible
As a Software Engineer II, you are responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of our public infrastructure. You will work in one of the Privacy teams and will also be responsible for making technical decisions within a team.
Important aspects of the job include:
- Rapidly developing next-generation scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems.
- Solving issues with the site and internal systems, prioritizing based on customer impact
- Acting as an intermediary for problems, with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Testing; we run thousands of experiments at one time. We built one of the most advanced A/B testing platforms in the industry.

It’s not necessary to know Perl before you start, but it helps. We are not just using the language, we influence the future of the language.
- Contributing to the growth of Booking.com through interviewing, on-boarding, or other recruitment efforts
