About The Role:

As a Solution Engineer at PingCAP, you will sharpen each of these skills as the trusted advisor to a diverse set of customers.Solution Engineers at PingCAP get involved in all stages of the customer’s software development lifecycle.  They are comfortable tailoring TiDB messaging to fit customer use cases.Our Solution Engineers create customer presales content, presentations, product demonstrations, and educational materials to inform customers on the best ways to utilize hybrid transactional and analytical databases (HTAP).You will be comfortable discussing the benefits and value of HTAP with everyone from developers, to product managers, to C-level executives.PingCAP’s Solution Engineers are empowered to innovate with creative solutions.  They are willing to challenge the status quo and “throw out the manual” on occasion. This position will be working with North American customers in various regions. Ideal candidates will have an entrepreneurship mindset with a bias for action.  You will enjoy working together with a talented team.  Be prepared to roll up your sleeves, hit the ground running, and remain flexible with a go-getter mentality.
Responsibilities: 
Two to five years experience as backend developer or database administrator, with strong communication skillsA strong understanding of the software development lifecycleWorking understanding of a coding and scripting language such as Python, Shell, or GolangExperience with web-scale distributed systems, load balancing, and system monitoringFamiliarity with setup, configuration, and optimization of Nginx, LVS, Keepalived, Zabbix, MySQL, Redis, etc.Docker/Kubernetes knowledge is a strong plusExperience in one or more public cloud environments, e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud PlatformExperience in DevOps automation using Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, or SaltStackA world-class communicator. Confident in dispensing knowledge to a highly skilled and experienced audience including developers, architects, and C-level executivesTypically 20-40% travel, depending on roleBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred.
Qualifications: 
Educate prospects and customers on what is possible with TiDB Share best practices for integrating TiDB with various data sources and applicationsUnderstand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using TiDBGuide the design and deployment of TiDB HTAP implementations that provide meaningful impact to multiple functional areas of a customer’s organizationProvide technical input on RFPs / customer technical requirements Organize and lead demos and proofs-of-concept (PoCs) to demonstrate various use cases for TiDBCreate technical content to show customers how to integrate TiDB or implement best practices for PingCAP technologiesAssist backend developers, database administrators, product managers and project owners with technical questions and escalations, as they ariseWork with developers, helping them with debugging their database integrations, and suggesting code optimization techniques and strategiesDocument architectural solutions and recommendations for customers Distill and convey customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales
More about the role: 
Experience in technical support of databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB, etc) or big data systems (Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Spark, etc) is a strong plus;Experience in operating MySQL, Cassandra, Postgres and other transactional databases in a large scale production environment is a strong plus;Experience in operating databases in Kubernetes or public cloud environments is a strong plus.
