Job Title: Systems Administrator
About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Systems Administrator to join as a member of the Linux Support Team responsible for supporting multiple Revenues and Benefits applications. Supported applications include One Revenues & Benefits and supported platforms include Red Hat 7. In addition the successful applicant will be required to support sftp file transfers across a number of Windows sftp servers. Training will be provided to enable personal development along with opportunities to learn a variety of different IT skillsets.
What you’ll be doing:
- Fault investigation, resolution and reporting
- Play an active role on change management
- Liaison with third-party software suppliers and users
- Testing and evaluation of system upgrades and new software releases
- Implementation of change requests, raising with application support and monitoring where necessary
- Extracting information from databases via SQL and presenting this in a usable format
- Management of software installed on Linux servers including maintaining settings and ensuring they are kept up to date
- Linux server monitoring and completion of housekeeping processes
- Supporting existing and developing new interface scripts
- Ongoing support and set up of sftp file transfer scripts
- Full involvement with Annual Billing and Year End processes including Testing and Live processing
- Consultancy to external and internal Clients as an when required
What we’re looking for:

- Strong team working ethics; Have good organisational skills; Be able to work under pressure whilst continuing to deliver to high standard; Excellent customer care & communication skills
- Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) grades C or above
- Competent using MS Outlook, Teams, Word & Excel
- In-depth knowledge of either Housing Benefits, Non-Domestic Rates or Council Tax
- Previous experience using One Revs & Bens application
- Understanding and knowledge of Linux operating systems
