Systems Engineer (Site Reliability & DevOps)

As a Systems Engineer you will be an integral part of the team responsible for the reliability, availability, security, and performance of the platform. You will evaluate, recommend and implement new technologies. You will also manage, modify, and monitor updates to our systems that drive improvements to our service.

Our platform is primarily built using Ruby on Rails with auxiliary Ruby services.  We leverage React on the front-end and several database technologies including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Couchbase and Redis.  We operate AWS cloud services — EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda — all managed as IaC using Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet.  An ideal candidate has professional experience with these technologies. They would be excited to learn a complex technology stack and eager to help evolve the platform. Proficiency with Ruby and Python are both beneficial. A commitment to learning and growth is imperative.

You can expect to:

• administer a complex SaaS environment on AWS.
• ensure the security, availability, performance, and manageability of the SaaS platform.
• develop IaC tooling to automate deployment, provisioning, and maintenance of integrated computing environments.
• develop, maintain, and constantly improve system monitoring, logging, and alerting to prevent service disruptions.
• investigate, evaluate, and introduce new technologies that improve the quality and efficiency of our service.
• participate in on-call rotations with colleagues in a cross-functional incident response team to rapidly recover from any service disruptions or degradations.
• collaborate with colleagues across Engineering to provide DevOps support.
