Macquarie University Graduate Research Scholarships (2025) Overview

Macquarie University offers competitive scholarships to support outstanding graduate researchers pursuing degrees in:
✅ Graduate Diploma of Research (GradDipRes)
✅ Master of Research (MRes)
✅ Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
✅ Bundle: MRes + PhD (Domestic students only)

Scholarships may include:

• Tuition fee offset
• Living allowance (stipend) – $38,500 per year (2025, indexed annually)
• Additional top-up stipend
• One-time or fixed sum payments
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) & visa support (for international students)

Domestic students in MRes or PhD programs have tuition covered by the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship.

Scholarship Categories & Eligibility

1. Graduate Diploma of Research Scholarship

• $5,000 per session for high-performing domestic and international students.
• Eligibility:
  • Must have a Macquarie University WAM ≥ 80 (or GPA ≥ 6/7).
  • Must be enrolled full-time at the census date.

2. Graduate Diploma of Research to MRes Scholarship

• $38,500 per year (2025) (tuition offset + stipend).
• Eligibility:
  • Awarded based on academic merit (highest WAM scores).
  • Scholarships awarded based on ranking and budget availability.

3. Master of Research to PhD Scholarship

• $38,500 per year stipend + tuition offset for 3 years.
• Eligibility:
  • Competitive ranking based on academic merit & research experience.
