Makerere-CWRU-SIGHT MSc Scholarship 2025 Overview

Makerere University (Uganda), in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (USA), is offering MSc scholarships under the SIGHT project, funded by the NIH Fogarty International Center. The program aims to build capacity for medical technology innovation in Uganda, specifically in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and related fields.

Makerere-CWRU-SIGHT MSc Scholarship 2025 Eligibility

• Must be a Ugandan national

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Health-related field from a recognized university

• Must be enrolled in or applying to an eligible MSc program at Makerere University (e.g., Technology Innovation & Industrial Development, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Bioinformatics)

• Strong academic performance in year one of the MSc is required (if already enrolled)

• Demonstrated interest in medical devices and health tech innovation

• The project idea must focus on:

  • Cardiovascular diseases

  • Blood disorders

  • Chronic movement disorders

• Technology areas of focus:

  • Biomaterials and drug delivery

  • Point-of-care diagnostics

  • Biomedical imaging

  • Data analytics & AI

• Willingness to attend an oral interview
