Overview

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is a fully funded initiative supporting 500 young African scholars to pursue Master’s degrees in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) or Health Professions Education (MHPE). This 10-year partnership focuses on empowering African leaders who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to transformative change.

The program prioritizes young women, refugees, displaced individuals, and persons with disabilities, providing opportunities to overcome social and economic barriers while fostering equity in global health.

Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • African citizens, under or at 35 years old, with an undergraduate degree

  • Academically talented with admission to UGHE for MGHD or MHPE programs

  • Demonstrating leadership potential and commitment to health equity and community service

  • Especially encouraged: young women, refugees/displaced individuals, persons with disabilities

  • Must have experienced significant barriers to higher education
