McDonald Fellowships 2026 for MS Researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Overview
The McDonald Fellowships, offered by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF), provide two-year research placements for early-career researchers from low- and middle-income countries. Fellows carry out MS-related research in a foreign institution, gaining expertise and forming global networks that they are expected to bring back to their home countries.

McDonald Fellowships 2026 for MS Researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:

Hold at least a postgraduate degree (MSc or preferably PhD/MD)

Be a citizen of a low- or middle-income country (as defined by the World Bank)

Have a research focus on multiple sclerosis (MS)

Be in one of the following situations:

Currently working/studying in a low- or middle-income country
-
Working/studying abroad on a project started within 6 months before applying

Participating in a Du Pré grant project

Find a host institution and agree on a research project

Complete the online application

Ensure your host supervisor submits a supporting statement

Have three referees email letters of recommendation to:
research@msif.org
