National Scholarship Programme (NSP) 2025 in Slovakia: Overview
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP), established in 2005 and funded by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of Slovakia, supports the international mobility of students, PhD candidates, university teachers, researchers, and artists.
It provides monthly scholarships + travel grants for study, research, teaching, or artistic stays at higher education institutions and research organizations across Slovakia.
National Scholarship Programme (NSP) 2025 in Slovakia: Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of countries other than Slovakia. Categories include:

Students:

Enrolled in a university outside Slovakia.

Must be Master’s students or have completed at least 2.5 years of studies in a similar program.

Accepted by a Slovak higher education institution for academic mobility.

Duration: 1–2 semesters (4–10 months).

PhD Students:

Enrolled in a PhD program abroad.

Accepted by a Slovak university or research institution (e.g., Slovak Academy of Sciences).

Duration: 1–10 months.

University Teachers, Researchers & Artists:

Invited to Slovakia by an eligible institution.

Duration: 1–10 months.

Scholarship Benefits
Monthly Stipend:

Master’s student: €620
-
PhD student: €1,025.50
-
Teachers/Researchers/Artists:
-
Without PhD + <4 years experience: €1,025.50

With PhD + <10 years experience: €1,370
-
With PhD + >10 years experience: €1,470
-
✈️ Travel Grant (students & PhD only):

€0 – €1,500 depending on the distance from the home country to Slovakia.
Other Benefits:
-
Covers living expenses in Slovakia (accommodation, food, etc.).

Up to €250 reimbursement for a mandatory medical check-up (for non-EU stays longer than 90 days).
Application Deadlines

30 April (16:00 CET): For stays during the following academic year.

31 October (16:00 CET): For stays during the summer semester of the current academic year.
⚠️ Only one application per call is allowed.
Application Process

Apply online via the NSP portal.

Students must upload proof of university enrollment and acceptance by a Slovak institution.

PhD, teachers, researchers, and artists must provide an invitation letter from the Slovak host institution.
Key Restrictions
The NSP does not support:
-
Full-degree studies (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) in Slovakia.
-
Applicants already studying in Slovakia.
-
Applicants with >15 months stay in Slovakia within the last 36 months.
-
Applicants funded by other Slovak public scholarships (e.g., Erasmus+, CEEPUS, Visegrad Fund).
