Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program 2025: Overview

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) is a merit-based scholarship for graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels. It supports high-achieving students across all academic disciplines at participating Ontario universities. Each award is co-funded by the Province of Ontario (2/3) and the student’s university (1/3).

  • Internal deadline for OGS applications

  • Required documents

  • Selection timelines

Scholarship Value

  • $10,000 for 2 consecutive terms

  • $15,000 for 3 consecutive terms

Minimum award: 2 terms (1 academic year)
Maximum award: 6 terms (2 academic years)

Lifetime Limits

  • Master’s students: up to 2 years

  • Doctoral students: up to 4 years

  • Total limit for any one student: 6 academic years

Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program 2025: Eligibility Criteria

You must:

  • Be enrolled in a full-time graduate program (master’s or PhD) at an eligible Ontario university

  • Commit to at least two academic terms (21–52 weeks) in one academic year

  • Meet the merit-based selection criteria set by your institution

How to Apply

  • Use your school’s official OGS application form (typically opens in October)

  • If applying to multiple schools, you must submit separate OGS applications to each

  • Applications are submitted directly to the Graduate Studies Office of the university
