Peering Fellowship 2025 Overview

The Peering Fellowship 2025, organized by the Internet Society, is a six-month professional development program for individuals committed to enhancing Internet access by improving local interconnection infrastructure and advocating for supportive Internet policies. The fellowship empowers 15 professionals from Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC), and Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions to deepen their expertise in peering, interconnection, and Internet policy through virtual training and in-person participation at regional peering events.

Peering Fellowship 2025 Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Reside in the Africa, LAC, or APAC regions

• Have a valid passport (see region-specific expiry requirements):

  • LAC: Valid until April 2026

  • Africa: Valid until February 2026

  • APAC: Valid until June 2026

• Have at least 3 years of experience in the Internet industry

• Be engaged in Internet policy, business, or technical development related to peering or transit

• Be available to attend one peering event:

  • AfPIF (Nigeria) – 19–21 August 2025

  • LACNIC/LACNOG (TBC) – 6–10 October 2025

  • Peering Asia (Philippines) – 4–6 November 2025

• Commit to ~4 hours per week for the full 6-month period

• Be fluent in spoken and written English

• Have reliable Internet access and suitable digital devices

Applicants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States are especially encouraged to apply.

Peering Fellowship 2025 Benefits

Peering Fellowship 2025 Fellowship/Program Components

• Virtual engagement: Sessions on routing, IXPs, and Internet policy

• Collaborative forums and networking

• In-person participation at one key regional peering event

• Real-world application: Fellows will initiate or contribute to impactful peering/interconnection activities in their home region

Peering Fellowship 2025 Application Requirements

• Complete the online application form

• Provide details of relevant professional experience and motivation

• Commit to full engagement in virtual and in-person program components

• Ensure availability during key dates and times (e.g., virtual meetings between 11:00–15:00 UTC)

• Relevance of experience to Internet policy, peering, and interconnection

• Geographic and regional representation

• Demonstrated impact and potential for community-level contribution

• Commitment to the full program timeline and engagement requirements

Peering Fellowship 2025 Selection Process:

• Two-stage review by separate committees (blind review—no personal data visible)

• Final decisions shared with all applicants by June 2025
