Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2026 in Sweden for African and Asian Women 

Overview

The Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2026 by the Swedish Institute supports women from Africa and Asia who aspire to create positive change through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The scholarship funds one- or two-year master’s programmes at top Swedish universities and fosters leadership, sustainability, and innovation.

Recipients also join the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) — a global platform for collaboration, professional growth, and lifelong connection.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be female citizens of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, or Vietnam.

• Apply for an eligible STEM-related master’s programme in Sweden.

• Be liable to pay tuition fees through University Admissions.

• Have at least 3,000 hours of work experience and demonstrated leadership experience.

• Not have previously studied in Sweden or received a Swedish Institute scholarship.

• Not hold Swedish or EU/EEA citizenship or residency.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a fully funded opportunity that includes:

• Full tuition fee coverage (paid directly to the university).

• Monthly living allowance: SEK 12,000.

• Travel grant: SEK 15,000 (one-time payment).

• Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP).

• Post-scholarship alumni membership in the Sweden Alumni Network.

Note: The scholarship does not cover insurance, family grants, or application fees.

Application Timeline

Application Process

1. Apply for a Master’s Programme:
   Submit your application via University Admissions (www.universityadmissions.se).

2. Apply for the Scholarship:
   Complete the SI application form between 9–25 February 2026.

3. Provide Required Documents:

   • Proof of work and leadership experience (using SI templates).

   • Academic transcripts and a motivation statement showing how your studies will support sustainable development in your country.

4. Await Notification:
   Successful applicants will be announced on 23 April 2026.
