Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa 2025: Overview
The Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa are prestigious, fully funded scholarships for exceptional students from West Africa to pursue graduate studies at the University of Oxford. Each year, 3 scholarships are awarded to students from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and PrÃncipe, and Togo. The first West Africa Scholar arrived at Oxford in 2018.
Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa 2025: Eligibility
Applicants must:

Be a citizen of one of the eligible West African countries.

Have completed (or will complete by July 2026) an undergraduate degree with a strong academic record.

Be between 18–24 years old (or under 27 if they’ve completed their first undergraduate degree later).

Meet the University of Oxford’s English language proficiency requirements.

Intend to apply for a full-time postgraduate degree at Oxford.
