Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Scholarship for International Students: Overview
The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Scholarship supports highly qualified undergraduate, Master’s, and doctoral students from Germany and abroad who demonstrate strong social and political engagement. The program is designed to promote equal opportunities by actively encouraging applications from underrepresented groups, including women, students from non-academic and migrant backgrounds, financially disadvantaged individuals, and people with disabilities.
Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Scholarship for International Students: Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
✔ High academic achievement (above-average grades)
✔ Strong commitment to social justice and political engagement in line with the values of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
✔ Proficiency in German (minimum B2 level required)
✔ Personal or family background aligned with the foundation’s focus on social equity
Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Scholarship for International Students: For International Students (Non-Germans):

Master’s or PhD students residing in Germany for study or research

Applicants must plan to return to their home country after completing studies

Must be enrolled at a state or state-recognized German university

Applicants for state examination or diploma programs must have completed basic studies
For Domestic Students (German citizens and specific groups under BAföG §8):

Open to students at state-approved higher education institutions in Germany

Targeted support for first-generation students through the Lux Like Studium program

Students from EU member states may also be eligible under specific conditions
