Royal Holloway Principal’s Masters Scholarship in the United Kingdom

There are 64 scholarships available to new full-time and part-time students studying for taught Masters degrees in any subject.

The scholarship is offered as a £4,000 tuition fee reduction.

Am I eligible?

You must have received an offer to study a taught postgraduate degree at Royal Holloway.

Applications to the Royal Holloway Principal’s Masters Scholarships are assessed on academic performance to date.  A strong Scholarship Statement is also required.

Candidates with international fee status should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent, with preference given to those who have achieved a First Class degree (in countries where it is possible).

Candidates with Home fee status should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a First Class undergraduate degree or equivalent.

How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted through RH Direct by 11.59pm (UK time) 11 July 2022. Applicants will be made aware of the outcome of their application after 26 July 2022.

Application guidelines

You must provide a supporting statement of no more than 400 words (please note that statements that exceed the word count will automatically be rejected), which should include:

  • Academic achievements you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you
  • Why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for
  • What your future aspirations are and how the scholarship will help you to achieve your future goals

Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.

As well as your statement, you will need to upload your most recent grades transcript from your undergraduate degree. Any applications that are submitted without an uploaded transcript will be rejected.

Terms and conditions

There are 64 scholarships available to new full-time or part-time Home and International students studying taught Masters Degrees.

Royal Holloway graduates are not eligible for the alumni tuition fee discount* if they are awarded the Principal’s Masters Scholarship.

Eligibility

Candidates with international fee status should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree or equivalent, with preference given to those who have achieved a First Class degree (in countries where there is possible). Candidates with Home fee status should have achieved, or be expected to achieve, a First Class undergraduate degree or equivalent.

Allocation

Candidates will be assessed based on academic performance to date. A strong Scholarship Statement is also required.

The 64 scholarships will be allocated as follows:

UK – 10

Overseas – 54

Payment

The scholarship is offered as a £4,000 tuition fee reduction. For full time students, the tuition fee reduction is only available for one year of study. No additional payment is offered in any following years if the duration of the programme is longer than one year. For part-time students, £4,000 will be spilt and awarded as a tuition fee reduction in the first two years of study only.
