Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) 2025-2026 Overview
The Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) program, funded by Global Affairs Canada, offers Canadian post-secondary institutions the opportunity to host international students for short-term study or research exchanges. The program aims to strengthen Canada’s international partnerships, enhance cultural ties, and diversify global academic engagement.
Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS) 2025-2026 Eligibility
🔹 Eligible Countries/Territories:
- Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan
- Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine
- Middle East & North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia
- Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda
🔹 Candidate Requirements:
- Must be a citizen of an eligible country/territory.
- Must be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in their home country.
- Must continue paying tuition fees at their home institution during the scholarship period.
🔹 Ineligible Candidates:
❌ Holders of Canadian citizenship/permanent residency or pending PR applications.
❌ Students already participating in a Government of Canada scholarship.
❌ Students already enrolled in a degree/diploma program at a Canadian institution.
🔹 For Canadian Institutions:
- Must be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
- Must have a valid student exchange agreement with the candidate’s home institution (for undergraduate/college studies).

📌 Funding Amount & Duration:

📌 Covered Expenses:
✔ Visa/study/work permit fees
✔ Airfare (most economical route)
✔ Health insurance
✔ Accommodation & living expenses
✔ Local transportation (public transport pass)
✔ Books & supplies (excludes computers/equipment)
📌 Institutional Support for Canadian Hosts:
✔ $500 per student for administrative costs
✔ Employer compliance fee reimbursement (if applicable)
Application Process
📅 Deadline: March 18, 2025 (11:59 p.m. EDT)
📍 Applications must be submitted by Canadian institutions on behalf of eligible students.
🔹 Application Steps for Canadian Institutions:
- Assign a program coordinator to handle applications.
- Register/Login on My EduCanada and select “Study in Canada Scholarships Program”.
- Fill out the application form and validate entries.
- Upload supporting documents (max 5MB per file, formats: .pdf, .jpg, .docx, etc.).
- Review and submit the application.
- Receive confirmation & reference number.

- Merit-based study/research proposal
- Academic transcripts
- CV of the candidate
- Proof of enrollment in home institution
Selection Criteria
📌 Applications are evaluated based on:
✔ Merit & relevance of the proposed study/research in Canada.
✔ Benefit to the home institution & peers.
✔ Impact on Canadian institution & supervisors.
✔ Strength of academic linkages created.
✅ Priority is given to candidates who have not previously received this scholarship.

📢 Important Conditions:
✔ Students must engage in full-time study/research.
✔ No clinical training or patient-care research is allowed.
✔ Students must return to their home institution after the scholarship.
