Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarships (SUIPRES) 2025 Overview

The Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) is a prestigious scholarship opportunity open to outstanding international candidates pursuing a PhD or Professional Doctorate. This scholarship supports students by covering the difference between international and home tuition fees, making doctoral study in the UK more affordable for talented researchers from around the world.

Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarships (SUIPRES) 2025 Eligibility

To qualify for the SUIPRES scholarship, applicants must:

• Apply for an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate programme at Swansea University (see the list of eligible courses)

• Hold (or be expected to achieve) a UK 1st class or 2:1 undergraduate degree or Distinction in a UK master’s degree (or equivalent international qualifications)

• Be classified as an international student and subject to international tuition fees

• Demonstrate academic and extracurricular excellence (e.g., awards, outreach, teaching)

Ineligibility

• Current PhD or Professional Doctorate students (including returning or transfer students)

• Applicants to Master ’s-level programmes

• Candidates fully sponsored by a third party

Benefits

• Covers the difference between the international and home (UK) tuition fee rate

• Scholars will pay the UK tuition fee rate, currently £4,786 for 2024/25

• Tuition fee savings can be substantial over the full duration of the doctoral programme

Note: The scholarship only offsets tuition fees. Applicants must show proof of sufficient funds to cover the remaining fees and living expenses.
