University of Geneva Excellence Master Fellowships 2026: Overview

The Excellence Master Fellowships at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, offer a prestigious opportunity for top-performing and highly motivated students worldwide who wish to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in any discipline offered by the Faculty of Science.

This internationally renowned faculty conducts advanced research in fields such as astronomy, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, earth sciences, environment, and pharmaceutical sciences. The fellowship aims to attract brilliant minds who aspire to advance their academic or professional careers in science, research, and innovation.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Have completed or be completing a Bachelor’s degree with exceptional academic results.

• Meet the admission criteria of the Master’s program they wish to join.

• Be among the top-performing students in their undergraduate studies.

• Not already be enrolled in a Master’s program at the University of Geneva.

The program is open to students of all nationalities.

Benefits

• Fellowship amount: CHF 10,000 to CHF 15,000 per year.

• No teaching duties required.

• Renewable for the regular duration of the Master’s program (three or four semesters), provided the student maintains excellent academic performance.

Applicants must submit a single PDF file (in English or French) containing:

• A copy of passport or national ID card.

• Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages).

• Bachelor’s degree transcript with all grades.

• Motivation letter outlining scientific interests and reasons for studying at the University of Geneva.

• Two recommendation letters from professors attesting to academic excellence.

• Additional documents such as GRE, TOEFL, or other language test results (if applicable).

• Current UNIGE students should include a scan of their UNIGE card.

• Applicants not yet enrolled must include the “UNIGE-Candidature” email confirming that their Master’s program registration has begun.
