University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026: Overview

The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a prestigious award for excellent students from non-EU/EEA countries who wish to pursue a Master’s degree (MSc) at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. The scholarship supports the most promising students and provides access to exclusive honours programmes such as Research Honours, Design Honours, or Change Leaders.

University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026: Eligibility

To qualify for the UTS, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country.

  • Have been (provisionally) admitted to an eligible UT Master’s programme for 2026/2027.

  • Belong to the top 5–10% of their graduating class.

  • Hold a valid student number from UT.

  • Meet English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in speaking) or TOEFL iBT 90 (minimum 20 in speaking).

  • Be ineligible for Dutch study loans and the statutory tuition fee.

  • Not be a current or former UT undergraduate or Master’s student.

  • Be able to cover the remaining study/living costs, as UTS is not a full scholarship.

Not eligible: EU/EEA students, ITC Faculty Master’s programmes, pre-Master programmes, or students paying statutory tuition fees.

University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026: Benefits

  • Scholarship value: €3,000 – €22,000 for one academic year.

  • Renewable for a second year if academic performance requirements are met:

    • Average grade of 7/10 at the end of the third quarter of Year 1.

    • At least 50% of European Credits earned by the same point.

  • Chance to join an Honours Programme (Research, Design, or Change Leaders).

  • Opportunity to apply for the Kipaji Scholarship (additional funding for select students).

University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2026: Fellowship/Program Components

  • Duration: 1–2 years (depending on Master’s programme).

  • Coverage: Study-related expenses (tuition fees are not automatically paid).

  • Add-on Scholarship: Eligible UTS awardees can apply for the Kipaji Scholarship.

Application Requirements

  • Proof of admission (provisional/official) to an eligible Master’s programme.

  • Strong academic record (top 5–10% of class).

  • English proficiency test results.

  • Personal motivation letter (indicating interest in UTS and Kipaji if applicable).

  • Proof of ability to finance additional living and tuition costs not covered by UTS.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence (grades, class ranking).

  • Motivation and future leadership potential.

  • Fit with chosen UT Master’s programme.

  • Commitment to contributing to society after graduation.

Application Process

  1. Apply for admission to an eligible Master’s programme at the University of Twente.

  2. Receive your student number upon (provisional) admission.

  3. Complete the separate UTS scholarship application form online.

  4. (Optional) Indicate interest in the Kipaji Scholarship during your application.

    • Closes: 1 February 2026 (16:00 CET)

  • Round 2:

    • Opens: 1 February 2026 (16:00 CET)
