Overview

Wageningen University & Research (WUR) offers highly competitive Master’s scholarships for international students starting an MSc programme in September 2026. These scholarships are invitation-based and aimed at top-performing students with strong academic records. They are only for prospective students, not current WUR students.

Available Master’s Scholarships at Wageningen University (2026–2027)

1. Excellence Programme (Tuition Fee Waiver)

For: Outstanding international MSc students outside the EEA (including Switzerland) with the potential to progress to a PhD.

Benefits:

  • Full tuition fee waiver for 24 months

Eligibility Highlights:

  • Non-EEA nationality

  • Unconditional admission to a WUR MSc programme

  • Minimum GPA: 80% (First Class Honours or equivalent)

Key Dates:

  • MSc application deadline: 1 February 2026

  • Invitation notification: 1 April 2026

  • Final outcome: 7 May 2026

Application:

  • No direct application (invitation only)

2. Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) – Fully Funded

For: Talented students from African countries aiming to build capacity and impact in Africa.

Benefits (Fully Funded):

  • Tuition fees (24 months)

  • Living allowance

  • Travel to/from the Netherlands

  • Visa & health insurance costs

Eligibility Highlights:

  • African nationality

  • Unconditional MSc admission

  • First Class Bachelor’s degree (GPA ≥ 80%)

  • Preference for students without a previous Master’s degree

Key Dates:

  • MSc application deadline: 1 February 2026

  • Invitation notification: 1 April 2026

  • Final outcome: 7 May 2026

Application:

  • Invitation only

3. Anne van den Ban Fund (ABF) – Partial & Full Funding

For: Students from developing countries starting an MSc at Wageningen University.

Benefits:

  • Full or partial scholarship, combined with the WU Fellowship Programme

Eligibility Highlights:

  • Developing country nationality

  • Unconditional MSc admission

Key Dates:

  • MSc application deadline: 1 February 2026

  • Results announced: 7 May 2026

Application:

  • Invitation-based only

4. NL Scholarship (Up to €15,000)

For: High-achieving international students from selected non-EEA countries.

Scholarship Value:

  • €5,000 (single award)

  • Possible €10,000 (double) or €15,000 (triple) award

  • One-time payment (not deducted from tuition)

Important Notes:

  • Not fully funded

  • Does not cover living costs, visa, or insurance

Eligibility Highlights:

  • GPA 80% or higher

  • Nationality must be from the approved country list (e.g. Nigeria is not included)

  • No previous degree studies in the Netherlands

  • Admission to an on-campus MSc programme

Key Dates:

  • Invitations sent: from 1 February 2026

  • Application deadline: 1 May 2026

Important General Rules

  • All scholarships are for September 2026 intake only

  • MSc application deadline for ALL scholarships: 1 February 2026

  • Scholarships are highly competitive and mostly invitation-based

  • Selection combines academic merit and lottery among shortlisted candidates
