Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior

  • Plan to enroll full-time in an undergraduate program

  • Study a technology-related field such as:

    • Computer Science

    • Engineering

    • Mathematics

    • Technology-related programs

  • Attend an accredited U.S. college, university, or vocational/technical school

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Demonstrate financial need

International students are eligible if they plan to study at a U.S. institution.

Not eligible:

  • Employees or children of employees of Microsoft

Application Deadline

  • March 16, 2026 (3:00 PM CT)

Selection Criteria

Applicants are evaluated based on:

  • Academic performance

  • Leadership and community involvement

  • Work experience

  • Personal statement outlining career goals

  • Financial need

  • Recommendation letter

Final selection is made by Microsoft after evaluation by Scholarship America.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the online scholarship application through the Scholarship America portal.

  2. Upload required documents including:

    • Academic transcript

    • Examination results (for international applicants)

    • English translations for non-English documents

  3. Submit one online recommendation form.

  4. Ensure all materials are submitted before the deadline.

Additional Notes

  • Scholarship results are typically announced in June.

  • Payments are processed in early August and sent directly to the student’s institution.

  • Awards are non-renewable, and previous recipients cannot reapply.
