Title: Solutions Architect
- Working across technical departments, providing solutions and architectural direction to enable the Zero Carbon Living mission
- Asses the area’s technology architecture to refine and rationalise, set the standard for future technology and support alignment between business and technical strategies
- Definition, oversight, implementation, and management of the application-wide technology architecture
- Perform architectural design, consultancy and decisions for complex development initiatives
- Provide and document solution designs for a variety of audiences and stakeholders
- Implement prototypes/spikes when necessary to prove a technology or approach is suited
- Provide high level estimates for initiatives to contribute to effort versus impact and to assist with which squad owns the work
- Facilitate build vs. buy decisions
- Work closely with various stakeholders (Engineering Management, Product Management, Enterprise Architecture, etc) to understand the vision across the domains and facilitate the technology and solutions alignment to the organisation’s goals
- Work with the engineering teams to define coding best practices and standards and provide guidance and governance to engineers to ensure they are adhered to. Raise the bar on technical excellence
- Advocate Agile and DevOps best practice adoption so that we move towards CI/CD
- Participate in sprint planning where necessary to provide additional information on user stories to help the engineers estimate
- Build strong relationships with engineering squads, ensuring direction or provided but still enabling the squads to collaborate and input into overarching solutions
Solutions Architect Requirements
- Hands on technical skills with a background working as, or closely with, engineers in a cross-functional agile team
- Proven track record in the architectural field, with focus on event driven design and microservices
- Proven track record in cloud technologies and transition of legacy estate to cloud – where it is right to do so
- Proven track record of transforming technical estates by simplifying and rationalising, setting a clear architectural direction
- Proven background defining technology strategy and architecting solutions across Application, Data, Product and Technology Architecture
- Experience working with CRM technologies such as Salesforce or Zoho
- Collaborative approach, to help bring others on a journey, guide and mentor where necessary
- Adaptability and flexibility when dealing with change and ambiguity
- Ability to interpret and communicate information in a clear and concise manner to others (technical/non-technical team members etc.)
- Open and friendly personality, excellent interpersonal and team-working skills as well as a problem-solving mindset and self-improve skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Bachelor or higher degree in computer science (or equivalent).
