Job Title: Reconciliation Officer
The Reconciliation Officer will be responsible for ensuring financial records are accurate by performing regular reconciliations of accounts, transactions, and balances. This role plays a crucial part in identifying discrepancies, resolving errors, and maintaining financial integrity within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Reconciliation & Accuracy
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of accounts, including bank statements, ledgers, and financial transactions.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and comply with company policies and financial regulations.
- Verify financial data and ensure completeness and correctness in all reconciliations.
2. Investigation & Issue Resolution
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies in financial records and bank statements.
- Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to address outstanding reconciliation issues.
- Follow up on missing transactions and ensure timely resolution.
3. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed reconciliation reports and provide insights on financial trends and anomalies.
- Maintain up-to-date and well-organized records of reconciliations for audit purposes.
- Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of reconciled accounts.
4. Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and implement best practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory standards.
- Support automation and system enhancements to improve reconciliation efficiency.
5. Reconcile wallet systems for users of the payment IT system
- Ensure all transactions between user wallets and the payment IT system are accurately recorded, matched, and balanced to maintain financial integrity.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies promptly, working closely with technical and finance teams to address any system-related issues affecting reconciliation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in reconciliations, accounting, or financial analysis (1-3 years preferred).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external teams.
