Mission 300 Fellowship Program: Empowering Young African Professionals in Energy Reform Overview
The Mission 300 Fellowship is a prestigious opportunity for young African professionals to work directly with African governments, supporting the implementation of Mission 300 — a World Bank, AfDB, Rockefeller Foundation, and GEAPP-led initiative to electrify 300 million Africans by 2030. Fellows will be embedded in Compact Delivery and Monitoring Units (CDMUs) within ministries of Energy, Finance, or the Presidency/Prime Minister’s office to drive policy reforms, monitor progress, and foster sustainable energy solutions.

Applicants must:

Be of African nationality

Hold or be completing a Master’s degree in fields such as Economics, Finance, Law, Energy, Engineering, Public Policy, Environmental Science, Geology, Climate, Sustainability, or related areas

Have 2–4 years of relevant professional experience

Demonstrate strong intellectual ability, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal sensitivity

Be fluent in English; fluency in French (for Francophone countries) or Portuguese (for Lusophone countries) is an advantage

Show a commitment to Africa’s sustainable development

Annual compensation: USD 26,000 (Year 1), USD 28,000 (Year 2) (net of tax)

24-month placement within a government Compact Delivery and Monitoring Unit (CDMU)

Support energy access projects, clean cooking solutions, and private sector engagement

Coordinate internal and external stakeholders across ministries, civil society, and donors

Produce policy papers, financial models, briefing notes, and strategic advice

Receive mentorship and ongoing professional development support
