DSTI–CSIR African Laser Centre Scholarship 2026 | Postgraduate Funding for African Students in South Africa: Overview

The Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (DSTI), in partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) African Laser Centre (ALC), is offering bursary support for non-South African postgraduate students pursuing degrees in laser and laser application fields at South African universities.

This program supports African researchers collaborating with South African universities and aims to strengthen scientific innovation across the continent.

Eligibility

• Open to non-South African students pursuing postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD) in laser and laser application fields.

• Applicants must be part of research collaborations with South African universities.

• Current DSTI–CSIR ALC scholarship holders who have not completed their studies must reapply annually for continued funding.
