What Is UniSQ?

Who Can Apply: Eligibility
International students only: You must be an international student — not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
Commencement: You must commence or continue study in 2027.
Academic qualification: A Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours, or equivalent. This is a standard PhD scholarship eligibility threshold.
Full-time on-campus study: You must be eligible to enrol full-time on-campus at UniSQ.
Research alignment: Your proposed research should align with UniSQ’s flagship research areas. Discuss the flagship area most closely aligned to your proposed research with your potential supervisor before applying.
The Industry Stream Option
Each flagship scholarship offers an optional Industry Stream — requiring a mandatory 60-day industry internship. If applying for this stream:
- Your industry partner must complete a Letter of Support
- All required contractual agreements must be in place before you commence
- Continuing students must be within 18 months of commencing (full-time) or 36 months (part-time)
- Contact the Senior Coordinator (Commercialisation and Partnerships) before applying
How to Apply
Step 1: Identify a potential supervisor at UniSQ whose research aligns with your proposed PhD topic. Application to the PhD programme and the scholarship are separate processes — begin both.
Step 2: Apply for PhD admission at UniSQ through the standard application process.
Step 3: Apply for the scholarship through the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by 27 September 2026.

- Statement of Claim (completed by student and supervisor)
- Curriculum vitae (including research publications and presentations)
- Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal
- Documentation confirming citizenship
- Education qualifications (testamur and transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards)
