African Graduate Fellowship at AUC 2026: Overview

The African Graduate Fellowship is a competitive funding programme offered by The American University in Cairo (AUC) to support high-achieving African students pursuing a full-time master’s degree. The fellowship is designed to remove financial barriers and enable talented students across Africa to access world-class graduate education in Egypt.

African Graduate Fellowship at AUC 2026: Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be African nationals (non-Egyptian)

  • Not hold dual non-African nationality

  • Apply to any master’s programme offered at AUC

  • Meet AUC graduate admission requirements

  • Submit a valid TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic score (as required by AUC)

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 (for continuing fellows)

African Graduate Fellowship at AUC 2026: Benefits

The fellowship covers:

  • Tuition fees (up to 9 credits per semester)

  • Monthly stipend

  • Student services and activities fees

  • Medical services and health insurance

  • Monthly housing allowance or accommodation at AUC New Cairo campus

  • Possible coverage of remedial English language courses

Fellowship Duration

  • Up to five semesters plus one summer session

  • Extended to seven semesters for the Counseling Psychology programme

  • Fellowship is reviewed every semester based on academic performance

Fellowship Responsibilities

Fellows are required to:

  • Maintain full-time student status

  • Keep a minimum GPA of 3.2

  • Complete 12 hours per week of related academic work

  • Complete Teaching Assistantship training if assigned TA duties

Application Requirements

  • Admission to an eligible AUC master’s programme

  • Proof of English language proficiency

  • Evidence of financial need

  • Compliance with AUC fellowship and academic regulations
