Anthropic’s Claude Corps is a paid fellowship — $85,000/year — placing early-career people at nonprofits across America to use AI for social impact. No degree required. Applications close July 17, 2026.
Overview
This one is different from every other opportunity on this site.
No degree requirement. No GPA cutoff. No standardised test. Just a genuine interest in AI, a willingness to work hard, and the readiness to spend a year making a real difference at a nonprofit in the United States — for a full-time salary of $85,000.
Claude Corps is Anthropic’s brand-new national fellowship programme, backed by a $150 million initial commitment, designed to place 1,000 early-career people at nonprofits across America to help those organisations harness the power of AI. You’ll be trained on how to use Claude (Anthropic’s AI system), placed with a host organisation, supported throughout the year, and paid a competitive salary with full benefits.
The first cohort of 100 fellows starts in October 2026. Applications close 17 July 2026.
What Is Claude Corps?
Claude Corps is Anthropic’s answer to a real tension at the heart of the AI moment: the companies building transformative AI technology have a responsibility to ensure its benefits are widely shared — not just concentrated among tech companies and large corporations.
The programme is structured as a partnership between three organisations:
- Anthropic — funds the programme, leads overall strategy, provides Claude expertise and technical office hours
- CodePath — America’s largest provider of collegiate computer science education- acts as the fellows’ official employer and leads programming during the fellowship
- Social Finance — a nonprofit registered investment adviser, leads measurement and evaluation, and builds the longer-term financial vehicle for the programme to scale
This isn’t a corporate internship rebranded as social impact. Anthropic has put $150 million behind this and built it around a specific, measurable goal: nonprofits that are genuinely better equipped, and fellows who are meaningfully more employable because of what they learned.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)
The eligibility criteria for Claude Corps are deliberately broad:
- Anyone over 18 with under two years of full-time work experience
- No educational background requirement — you do not need a degree
- Must be authorised to work in the United States
- Must be comfortable working with Claude (Anthropic’s AI assistant)
- Must be willing to relocate if necessary (relocation support is available)
That’s it. This programme is built for people at the start of their careers — recent graduates, career changers, people who never finished college, people who have been self-teaching AI tools and want a structured way to apply those skills in the real world.
What You Get (Benefits)
| Benefit | Details |
|---|---|
| Annual salary | $85,000 full-time |
| Employee benefits | Full benefits package (health, etc.) |
| AI training | Intensive onboarding + 5 hours/week ongoing |
| Claude token budget | Expansive access to Claude |
| CodePath mentor | Dedicated mentor throughout the year |
| Anthropic office hours | Technical support directly from Anthropic |
| Professional guidance | Manager at host organisation |
| Relocation support | Available if needed |
$85,000 per year is a strong, livable salary in most American cities, especially at the start of a career. And the ongoing five hours of weekly training means you’re not just working, you’re continuously building skills that translate directly into the job market after the fellowship ends.
Where Will Fellows Be Placed?
Fellows are matched with nonprofits across America. Over the next 12 months, at least 400 nonprofits will host Claude Corps Fellows. Confirmed host organisations include:
- Braven (Chicago, IL) — helps first-generation and lower-income students land strong first jobs
- Code the Dream (Durham, NC) — free coding education and paid software apprenticeships
- Heartland Forward (Bentonville, AR) — nonpartisan economic growth think tank for the American heartland
- Montgomery County Food Bank (Conroe, TX) — feeds children, seniors, and families north of Houston through 100+ local pantries
- Team Red, White & Blue (Floyds Knobs, IN) — supports veteran health and wellness
- Reef Environmental Education Foundation (Key Largo, FL) — marine conservation and underwater reef surveys
- SoundOff (San Antonio, TX) — anonymous counselling and peer support for service members
- StriveTogether (Cincinnati, OH) — data-driven community partnerships to help young people thrive
- YMCA of Greater Charlotte (Charlotte, NC) — serving nearly 300,000 kids, families, and seniors annually
The range is broad, including environment, education, food security, veteran services, mental health, and economic development. You’re matched based on your background and interests.
How the Fellowship Works
Duration: 12 months, full-time, in-person at your host organisation
Structure:
- Intensive AI training at the start of the programme (Anthropic + CodePath)
- 5 hours of ongoing weekly training throughout the year — focused on using Claude in nonprofit contexts
- Remaining time dedicated to your host organisation’s work
- Continuous support from your CodePath mentor and Anthropic office hours
What you’ll actually do: Each fellow’s work is shaped by the needs of their host organisation — but the core mission is clear. You’re there to help the nonprofit use AI tools to advance their work more effectively, whether that means streamlining operations, analysing data, building content systems, improving outreach, or solving whatever problem the organisation most needs help with.
Application Timeline and Cohorts
Claude Corps runs three cohorts:
| Cohort | Start Date | Application Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Cohort 1 (100 fellows) | October 2026 | 17 July 2026 |
| Cohort 2 | January 2027 | Rolling |
| Cohort 3 | August 2027 | Rolling |
The first cohort application deadline is firm: 17 July 2026. If you miss it, the rolling applications for cohorts 2 and 3 remain open — but cohort 1 is the first mover advantage.
Why This Matters: The Bigger Picture
Anthropic is one of the most prominent AI safety and research companies in the world — the company behind Claude. They’re not doing this as a PR exercise. The $150 million commitment, the partnership structure with CodePath and Social Finance, and the rigorous measurement and evaluation framework signal something more intentional: this is a flagship programme that Anthropic wants to scale far beyond 1,000 fellows, replicate internationally, and use as a model for how AI companies can invest directly in the people and communities absorbing the disruption of AI.
Being in cohort 1 means being part of that foundation. It means your work will be studied, your outcomes will shape how the programme grows, and your name will be associated with the launch of something that could become a defining feature of the AI era.
Is This Open to Non-Americans?
Claude Corps requires authorisation to work in the US. If you’re an international student currently studying in the US on an F-1 visa, you may be eligible through OPT (Optional Practical Training) — but verify this carefully before applying. If you’re outside the US without work authorisation, this particular fellowship is not accessible yet. Anthropic has stated plans to build models that can be replicated in other countries, so watch this space.
