Commonwealth Shared Scholarship at King’s College London: Overview

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme offers fully funded master’s study opportunities at King’s College London for students from eligible low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. The scheme supports academically strong individuals who cannot afford to study in the UK, with a focus on health-related fields such as mental health, psychology, and palliative care.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen or refugee of an eligible Commonwealth country and permanently resident there.

  • Be ready to start studies in the UK by September 2026.

  • Hold at least a 2:1 degree, or a 2:2 plus a relevant postgraduate qualification.

  • Not have studied or worked in a high-income country for more than one academic year.

  • Be unable to finance a UK study without the scholarship.

  • Meet King’s entry requirements and be fluent in English.

  • Commit to returning to their home country after completing the programme.

Eligible Programmes at King’s:

  • MSc Mental Health Studies

  • MSc Health Psychology

  • MSc Palliative Care

  • MRes Clinical Research

Note: Part-time and distance learning are not eligible.

Programme Components

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit two applications:

1. CSC Online Application

  • Deadline: 09 December 2025 (16:00 GMT)

2. King’s College London Admissions Application

  • Deadline: 12 January 2026

  • Add “CSSS2026” in the funding section

  • Apply only to one of the approved master’s programmes

Application Fee Waiver:

  • Submit the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme Application Fee Waiver Form by 02 January 2026.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence

  • Strength and clarity of the study plan

  • Potential development impact in the applicant’s home country

Applicants nominated by King’s will receive final confirmation from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission by July 2026.

Important Dates

  • CSC Application Deadline: 09 December 2025

  • Fee Waiver Request Deadline: 02 January 2026

  • King’s Application Deadline: 12 January 2026

  • King’s Nomination to CSC: By 10 March 2026

  • Final Decision: By July 2026
