Overview
The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme aims to strengthen higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa by supporting the training of future leaders, lecturers, and researchers. Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals or residents of Sub-Saharan African countries.

Master’s applicants must hold a first degree, while PhD applicants must hold a Master’s degree.

Female candidates and applicants from disadvantaged regions or groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

In-Country scholarships apply to studies within the applicant’s home country; In-Region scholarships apply to studies in another Sub-Saharan African country.

South African applicants should apply through a separate DAAD-NRF program.

Fellowship/Program Components
