SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026: Overview

The Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship for Global Professionals is a prestigious, fully funded master’s scholarship designed to develop future global leaders who will drive sustainable development in their home countries.

Through this scholarship, Sweden invests in global talent — offering access to top-quality education, world-class research, and a vibrant leadership network. The programme supports one- or two-year master’s studies in Sweden and aims to strengthen your ability to lead positive change in your society.

  • Applications Open: 9 – 25 February 2026
  • Study Level: Master’s (1–2 years)
  • Eligible Countries: 33 countries across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the 33 eligible countries (listed below).

  • Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI Scholarship.

  • Be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities.

  • Have proven work experience (minimum requirement depends on region).

  • Have leadership experience from a current or previous employer or civil society engagement.

Eligible Countries:

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia.

📌 You may apply from outside your country of citizenship. However, you must not submit multiple applications using dual citizenship — this will lead to disqualification.

Benefits

  • The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is a fully funded award covering all major study expenses, including:
  • Full tuition fee coverage, paid directly to your Swedish university.
  • Monthly stipend: SEK 12,000 for living expenses throughout the study period.

Travel grant:

  • SEK 15,000 for most scholars.

  • SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
    Professional membership: Access to the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) — a global platform for collaboration, learning, and career development.
    Alumni membership: Lifetime access to the Sweden Alumni Network for continued professional growth and networking.

Not covered:

  • Family or dependents’ expenses

  • University application fee

  • Personal/travel insurance

  • Changes or extensions to the awarded programme

Application Requirements

Applicants must prepare:

  • Proof of citizenship (passport or national ID).

  • University application submitted through University Admissions Sweden.

  • Proof of work experience (using SI template).

  • Evidence of leadership experience (workplace or community).

  • Motivation statement explaining how the chosen programme supports sustainable development in your home country.

  • Reference letters from employers or civil society organisations.

Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Academic and professional excellence

  • Leadership potential and ability to drive change

  • Relevance of work experience to the chosen programme

  • Commitment to sustainability and community development

  • Clarity and impact of motivation statement

Application Process

🧾 Step 1: Apply for up to four eligible master’s programmes via University Admissions Sweden between 16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026.

🧾 Step 2: Check the list of eligible programmes (to be published mid-November 2025).

🧾 Step 3: Apply for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals between 9 – 25 February 2026 through the Swedish Institute portal.

🧾 Step 4: Pay your university application fee and complete all supporting documentation.

🧾 Step 5: Check results:

  • 26 March 2026: University Admissions results

  • 23 April 2026: SI Scholarship results
