FBM Scholarship for Young Nigerian Women in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing (2025) Overview

The FBM Scholarship for Women, an initiative of the Opekete Foundation, honors the legacy of Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola, a pioneer in education and nursing. This scholarship aims to empower female Nigerian students through bursaries that support careers in STEM, teaching, and nursing, helping to build a skilled workforce in sectors crucial to Nigeria’s development. The initiative promotes female empowerment, poverty reduction, and financial independence for young women from underserved communities.

FBM Scholarship for Young Nigerian Women in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing (2025) Eligibility

To apply for the FBM Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a female Nigerian citizen.

• Be currently enrolled or admitted into a public Senior Secondary School or public university in Nigeria.

• Be intending or currently studying in the fields of:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

  • Teaching

  • Nursing

FBM Scholarship for Young Nigerian Women in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing (2025) Academic Requirements

Secondary School Applicants

• At least 5 distinctions (A or B) in English, Mathematics, and three other major subjects in Junior WAEC.

University Applicants

• At least 5 distinctions (A1 – B3) in WAEC/NECO at one sitting (including English and Mathematics).

• Must meet the JAMB cut-off mark for their chosen course and institution.

FBM Scholarship for Young Nigerian Women in STEM, Teaching, and Nursing (2025) Benefits

• ₦350,000 per year for each successful Secondary School student.

• ₦650,000 per year for each successful University student.

Selection Process

• All applications will be screened by an independent consultant.

Announcement of Awardees

• Successful applicants will be announced in August 2025.
