Graduate Mastercard Foundation Scholarships Program 2025 at the University of Gondar Overview

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Gondar offers 160 graduate scholarships over 8 years (starting 2018/19) to academically talented but disadvantaged youth from Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and South Sudan. It aims to develop transformational leaders through academic excellence and non-academic support.

Graduate Mastercard Foundation Scholarships Program 2025 at the University of Gondar Eligibility

Only Ethiopian citizens and permanent residents (for at least 5 years) can apply for the graduate scholarship. Applicants must:

• Have a Bachelor’s degree (within the past 5 years) in a relevant field

• Have a minimum CGPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)

• Pass the Graduate Admission Test (GAT) by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education

• Be youth with disabilities or female applicants with financial difficulties

• Not currently be enrolled in any graduate program

Applicants must submit:

• Completed application form (online or paper)
• Medical certificate for disability (if applicable)
• Resume (academic, volunteer, and non-academic experience)
• Transcripts (elementary to university level)
• Two recommendation letters from previous universities
• National ID or passport
• Testimonial of financial disadvantage from local authorities
• Police clearance
• Community giveback and leadership testimonials
