The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship Programs are flagship initiatives aimed at supporting the educational advancement of students and scholars from its Member Countries (MCs) and Muslim communities in non-Member Countries (non-MCs). Established to promote sustainable development through education, the scholarships focus on building skilled human capital in critical areas of development, science, and technology. Since its inception, the IsDB has provided over 19,000 scholarships to students from 56 member countries and 66 Muslim communities globally. These programs are integral to IsDB’s commitment to inclusive and comprehensive human capital development.

Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarships 2025: Eligibility

Eligibility varies across different programs. General eligibility criteria include:

  • Citizenship of an IsDB Member Country or belonging to a Muslim community in a non-Member Country.

  • Academic excellence in previous studies.

  • Commitment to contributing to the development of one’s country/community.

  • Admission to a recognized university or research institution in approved fields of study.

Eligible countries for the Scholarship Program for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC) 2025–2026 include:

  • Australia, Cambodia, Croatia, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Republic of Congo, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, The Philippines, Trinidad and Tobago, Vietnam, Zambia.

Programs Offered

  1. Undergraduate Scholarship Program (SPMC) – For Muslim communities in non-Member Countries.

  2. Master of Science Scholarship Program (M.Sc..) – For students from Least Developed Member Countries (LDMCs).

  3. Merit Scholarship Program (MSP) – For PhD studies and Post-Doctoral research in applied science and high technology fields.

  • Applications submitted outside the official system or incomplete will be disqualified.

  • Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle officially closed on April 20, 2025.

Application Process

  1. Applications are made online via the IsDB Scholarship Portal (when open).

  2. Shortlisted candidates are contacted for interviews or further documentation if necessary.

  3. Successful applicants are notified via email.

  4. Awardees must commit to return to their home country/community after completion of the program to contribute to local development.

Impact

  • 14,044 graduates from IsDB scholarships are currently contributing to development in critical sectors.

  • 43% of scholarships have been awarded to Muslim communities in Asia, 35% to IsDB Member Countries, and 16% to Muslim communities in Africa.

  • IsDB continues to prioritize gender balance and has achieved a 70:30 male-to-female ratio among scholarship recipients.
